As a senior photographer in Huntsville, AL I offer both full and mini sessions for graduating seniors throughout the year. You might be wondering what the difference is between a full vs. mini session and which option is best for you. Below I’m breaking down the differences and if a senior mini session might be right for you.
A mini session is a shorter session that typically includes less images in the final gallery and less outfit options. Mini sessions typically also occur on a set date at a set location with multiple sessions scheduled back to back. Some of the advantages to mini sessions can be the shorter time commitment and lower price point. Some of the disadvantages can be less personalization options and less images in the final gallery.
Mini sessions differ primarily by the length of the session compared to full sessions. Mini sessions typically are between 10-30 minutes in length compared to a full session, which is usually 1-2 hours in length. The photographer typically schedules for mini sessions to occur on a select date at a set location and then will schedule multiple sessions back to back. With mini sessions the location is typically already set compared to with full sessions you typically have the option to pick your location. Another major difference with senior mini sessions is the number of outfits included. My full senior sessions include 2-4 outfits, but my senior mini sessions only include 1 outfit. The other big difference is the number of photos in your final gallery. Mini sessions will include less images than if you were to book a full session.
A mini session for seniors could be the right option for you. Graduating seniors with busy schedules may enjoy the shorter time commitment of a mini session compared to a full session. This is also a great option for seniors, who may not want senior portraits done, but mom and dad are wanting a few senior pictures. Any photography session comes with an investment, but the shorter time frame and less images in a mini session does come at a lower price point. The overall cost of the mini session is less than a full session, so these can also be more budget friendly option.
Overall, deciding if a mini session is right for you is something you have to consider personally. If you are only wanting a few images then a mini session might be the perfect option for you. For senior portraits if you are wanting a personalized session with multiple outfits and variety in your final gallery then a full session might be the best option for you.
