This session took place in July 2025 during the warm and rainy months in Huntsville. We had to unfortunately reschedule the session by a day due to some rain, but I’m so glad we did. The weather the day of this couple’s downtown maternity shoot turned to be perfect. It was slightly cloudy with the perfect amount of light shinning through. As a Huntsville family photographer I love having the opportunity to capture maternity sessions for growing families. Why Downtown Huntsville is the Perfect Backdrop for a Maternity Session

Downtown Huntsville is one of my favorite locations for any type of session. I especially love it for maternity sessions! Downtown Huntsville offers a wide variety of backdrops between the urban buildings, churches, and Big Spring Park. If you want to have a wide variety of photos in different locations without having to drive, Downtown Huntsville is the place to go. For this session we used the architecture of a building downtown, then headed over to a spot with beautiful pink flowering trees over the sidewalk, and finished the session off at Big Spring Park. We were able to capture photos with clean white backdrops along with grass and trees.

Tips for Planning Your Downtown Huntsville Maternity Session

• Hire a local photographer to capture your maternity session for you. You will not regret investing in having maternity photos to capture the memory of this milestone in your life. It is also so special to be able to look back at your pregnancy with your little one one day.
• Schedule for your maternity session to take place towards the end of your second trimester or beginning of your third trimester. Planning to have your maternity session anywhere between 28-34 weeks is perfect! You’ll hopefully still have some of that second trimester energy and you’ll be able to have your maternity session done in case baby decided to arrive a little early.
• When planning for a maternity session in Downtown Huntsville I highly recommend you bring some sandals or comfortable shoes if you plan to wear heels. The beauty of Downtown Huntsville is the ability to move to different locations, but that does include some walking.
• Bring some water for the mom to be, especially in the summer!
• Be sure to pack any ultrasound photos, onesies, and/or name signs that you may want included in your maternity session.
• Lastly, have fun and capture these beautiful portraits with your photographer!
