What Makes a Great Location for Huntsville Graduation Portraits

When considering locations for Huntsville graduation portraits there are a few key factors to consider. Graduation portraits are meant to really capture the senior, so I look for locations that offer clean backgrounds, a variety of backdrops at the location, and good lighting.

Big Spring Park

Big Spring Park in Downtown Huntsville is a great location in Huntsville for senior portraits. It’s proximity to Downtown Huntsville allows for a lot of variety in backdrops and it offers beautiful lighting at sunset. This location is best at sunset to capture pictures by the spring. Other times of day can have harsh light. Big Spring Park also offers some variety in your final gallery by adding in some blue from the spring to the background of your photos. Many locations in Huntsville include a lot of greenery or neutral colored buildings, so this location is great for some added variety.

Downtown Huntsville

I love Downtown Huntsville for just about any session, but especially senior portraits. Downtown Huntsville has a wide variety of great locations for capturing photos and is a dream for senior portraits. We are able to easily walk around Downtown Huntsville capturing photos at different locations without ever having to leave Downtown. It offers numerous clean backgrounds and a lot of variety in your final gallery. This is probably my personal favorite location for senior portraits. Added bonus is it is beautiful year round, so it’s a great spot regardless of the time of year.

Huntsville Botanical Gardens

Huntsville botanical gardens is another beautiful location for senior portraits. Especially during the spring the botanical gardens is a great location for capturing portraits with all the blooming flowers. There are also numerous locations to take photos around the botanical gardens offering a lot of variety throughout the session. Note that the botanical gardens does require a permit for photographers to have sessions there, so an added fee may be applicable.
