How to Choose the Right Location for Your Session?
Choosing the right location for your session can be dependent on numerous different factors. Some things I consider when suggesting locations is if the session includes young children, what is the time of year or season, and what style are you looking for. For sessions with young children options that include a big field and are away from busy roads allow children to be able to have some more freedom during the session. The time of year of the session and season makes a huge difference for some locations. Some locations are beautiful in the spring, but become very brown during the winter. A few of the best locations for photographers in Huntsville, AL are Downtown Huntsville, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, Hays Nature Preserve, and Monte Sano State Park.
Downtown Huntsville
Downtown Huntsville is one of my favorite locations year round and is a very popular spot for numerous photographers in Huntsville, AL. You will typically see several photographers around Downtown on the weekends especially during the fall! Downtown Huntsville makes a great location because there are numerous spots within walking distance to be able to capture a variety within your final gallery. It is also a great location for sessions year round because there are several spots that look gorgeous all year. If you are considering a session in Downtown Huntsville be sure to know of any events going on that day.
Big Spring Park
Big Spring Park is another popular spot for Huntsville photographers and can easily be accessed while shooting a session in Downtown Huntsville. It is a beautiful spot for photos to be able to take photos near the spring, the walking trails, and grass areas throughout the park. If you are planning to do a session at Big Spring Park you definitely want to consider any events going on. During Christmas Big Spring Park is home to the Tinsel Trail and has decorated Christmas trees around the entire spring.
Huntsville Botanical Gardens
Huntsville Botanical Gardens is another top spot among photographers in Huntsville, AL. The botanical gardens offers a great location for gorgeous flowers in the spring. Throughout the year the botanical gardens offers beautiful scenery for any type of session. If you are planning for a session to take place at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens be aware that their is a fee for photographers.
Hays Nature Preserve
Hays Nature Preserve is an excellent location choice if you are looking for a location with big open fields and trees in the background. This is a great spot for young children because the open fields allow for the opportunity to have movement throughout the session. Some things to be aware of with this location is it does hold water if it recently rained. Also, I typically prefer this location from the spring until the fall. During the winter it can have foggy weather and is not as green in the background.
Monte Sano State Park
Monte Sano State Park is another great spot for capturing photos in Huntsville, AL. The state park offers so many options for photo locations. There are spots with beautiful views and locations with plenty of trees. If you haven’t been to Monte Sano State Park I highly recommend you visit it. It also has tons of hiking trails to explore too.
