Selecting Outfits for Family Portraits

When planning outfits for your Huntsville family portraits I recommend my clients to select outfits that coordinate rather than match exactly. Rather then selecting blue shirts and jeans for the whole family consider picking outfits that coordinate well with each other. Some great ways to coordinate while still offering some variety throughout outfits is to include neutral colors, textures, and a variety of outfits. Mixing dresses with skirts, pants, etc. throughout the family’s outfits is a great way to offer some variety. For example, mom wearing a long maxi dress and the daughters wearing blouses and skirts. This allows for some patterns, color variations, and variety throughout the overall outfits while still being able to coordinate.

What Colors Photograph Well for Huntsville Family Portraits

When you are selecting outfits for family photos I always recommend selecting a color scheme of about 3 colors and working around that. Some colors that photograph well are light pastel colors, jewel tones and neutral colors. I love the look of all neutrals or mixing some color in with neutral colors. When selecting outfits for Huntsville family portraits I recommend avoiding neon colors, bold prints, and large logos. Neon colors will reflect back onto skin tones, which is not what we want in the final portraits. Some colors I love mixing with neutrals are pastel pink, pastel blue, and olive green.
