Picking a Huntsville senior portrait photographer is the first step in getting your senior portraits. A few things to consider are the photographer’s location, style, and personality. You’ll want to begin the search by looking for senior photographer’s in Huntsville. Once you have come across some Huntsville senior photographer’s you’ll want to take a look at their portfolio and social media to see their style. Some photographer’s shoot documentary, light and airy, or true to color. You’ll want to pick a photographer that shoots in the style you are imagining for your photos. Lastly, take a look at the photographer’s website and social media to get a feel for their personality. Your senior session should be fun and finding a photographer that matches your personality can help to make you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Photographer’s offer several different package options, so be sure to communicate with your photographer if you are not sure about how many outfits are included in your senior session. I currently offer 2-3 outfits for my Huntsville senior sessions. Picking your outfits can vary depending on what activities you’re involved in and your personality. I typically recommend a more formal outfit, casual look, and then a sports uniform. This could include a dress with heels, then jeans with your college’s t-shirt, and then your high school sports uniform. If you have your cap and gown I also love to take some shoots in the cap and gown with the more formal outfit. Having a more formal outfit is also a great opportunity to get a headshot or two that might be needed before heading into a career.
The first thing to be sure you have for your Huntsville senior portraits are your outfits for the session. Be sure that they are hung and not going to wrinkle in the car. Also, make sure to plan appropriate shoes for each outfit and socks if needed. Next, grab your cap and gown if you have it along with any cords and/or metals you have for graduation. I recommend bringing some comfortable shoes to walk in as senior sessions can include some walking between different shooting locations especially in Downtown Huntsville. In the summer be sure to bring some water and in the winter bring a warm jacket!
Lastly, if you were involved in any sports, band, or extracurricular activities bring any props you may want included in your senior portraits. Some examples include a football, trumpet, volleyball, etc. I hope these tips helped you to feel more prepared for your Huntsville senior portraits.
