Once you have booked a Huntsville family photography session you might be wondering what to expect during your session. After you book your session you will select a location for your family photos. Huntsville has so many beautiful spots you can’t go wrong with your selection. Some of my personal favorites include Hays Preserve and Big Springs Park in Downtown Huntsville. At your session I will guide you and your family through prompts to create natural, timeless photos. After your session your images will be edited and then digitally delivered for you to be able to download and print where you choose.

Selecting the Perfect Location in Huntsville

Once you have booked your session the next step will be to select the perfect location for your family photos in Huntsville. Your photographer will help guide you with selecting the perfect location. If you are wanting to explore some options, Hays Preserve and Downtown Huntsville are both great locations for Huntsville family photography sessions. Hays Preserve offers a beautiful backdrop with big open fields and walking trails for a nature session. If you are wanting more of a city backdrop then Downtown Huntsville is the place to go!

What Happens During the Photo Shoot

During the photo shoot I will guide you through prompts to capture timeless photos of your family. I typically start with family photos all together then will go into photos with just mom and kids, dad and kids, just the kids, and lastly just mom and dad together. While this is the typical flow of my sessions it’s always flexible depending on the family especially with young kids. I guide my families through prompts rather than structured poses to allow the family’s natural personalities to shine through. An example of one of my favorite prompts is to slowly walk towards me, but no one look at the camera instead take turns look at different family members. The picture below is a photo from that exact prompt being given.

After the Shoot: Editing and Final Delivery

After the shoot I edit all your digital images and you will receive them within 30 days of your family session. I strive to deliver them to you as soon as possible while also carefully editing each photo of your family. You will receive a link via email of your final gallery, which allows you to download the images and print them anywhere you’d like. Once you receive your gallery you’ll want to make sure you backup all your images. I do keep them stored for a limited time, so it is important to also backup your family photos.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Family Session

I have included some of my top tips for Huntsville family photography sessions below. My biggest tip is to have fun, let everyone’s personality show, and enjoy your session!

• If you have young children be sure to bring some snacks and water. When packing snacks for your session try to stick with snacks that aren’t messy and won’t stain outfits. Some great options are cheese sticks, apples, or crackers.
• Plan your outfits ahead of time to avoid last minute stress prior to your session.
• When planning your outfits you want to coordinate, but not match identically. Pick a color scheme to coordinate your outfits, but you don’t want everyone to match identically.
