Choosing the right family photographer can make a big difference in your overall experience. The right family photographer for you might be different from the right photographer for your neighbor. Some important factors to keep in mind when searching for a photographer are: location, photography style, budget, and personality. First, if you aren’t wanting to pay for a photographer to travel or you are not wanting to travel then be sure to search for photographers in your area. If you are searching for a family photographer in Huntsville let’s chat! Next, view the photographer’s portfolio and their style. If you are wanting dark and moody photos you don’t want to book with a photographer that shoots light and airy. The next consideration is your budget. Photographers offer different packages and options for all different prices. It is important to find a photographer that fits into your budget. Lastly, consider the photographer’s personality. You can get a feel for their personality through their website and communicating over email.
Preparing for a family photo session might feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Once you have found your photographer and have your session booked the next step is to plan outfits. When planning outfits I recommend picking a color scheme and outfits that coordinate. Rather than outfits matching identically pick outfits that compliment each other. Combining subtle patterns, with solids, and neutral colors can be a great option for family photos. Try to avoid bold colors as they can reflect on other family members skin tones and bold patterns that can be distracting in photos.
When reviewing photographer’s pricing and packages consider what you are looking for and what your budget is. Photographer’s offer all different packages based on preferences, experience, etc. When reviewing package options be sure to review how many locations are included, how many outfits, how many images you will receive, how you will receive your images, and what the turn around time is. As a family photographer in Huntsville I personally give my clients access to digitally download images that can then be printed anywhere.
My best advice for your family photography experience is to try to have fun. My goal when shooting family sessions is to create memories and capture genuine smiles. I understand family photos especially with young children might feel overwhelming. For toddlers, I recommend bringing water, snacks, and having a jacket if it is cold. When packing snacks consider snacks that won’t stain outfits such as cheese sticks, apples, and/or crackers. Most of all try to have fun and your photographer will guide you along the way. To stay up to date on sessions I am offering as a family photographer in Huntsville be sure to follow along on Instagram. If you are interested in booking a family session with me click here.
